Alguns dias sem aqui vir, hoje irei falar sobre um museu em Colônia,Alemanha.
“EL-DE Haus, agora oficialmente o Centro de Documentação NS da Cidade de Colônia, é a antiga sede da Gestapo e hoje um museu que documenta o Terceiro Reich. A construção era destinada, inicialmente, às instalações comerciais do joalheiro Leopold Dahmen. Em 1934 os nazistas alugaram o prédio e o transformaram na sede da polícia secreta, a Gestapo.
É intrigante pensar que o prédio permaneceu em pé após a guerra, enquanto a maioria dos outros edifícios ao redor havia sido destruída. Colônia foi uma das cidades mais bombardeadas da Alemanha durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, há registros de que 35.268 toneladas de bombas foram usadas na região.
Após os bombardeios, os porões do prédio, que foram utilizados como celas de prisão e salas de tortura para trabalhadores forçados e inimigos políticos, acabaram se tornando armazém de arquivos.
Logo depois da guerra, foi adotada uma abordagem despreocupada em relação a casa e o seu passado. Foi apenas no início da década de 1980 que a Casa EL-DE se tornou um monumento historicamente protegido.
Em 1985, um grupo de cidadãos teve a iniciativa de fundar um centro de documentação NS e organizou manifestações em relação a este lugar. Sendo que só em 19 de setembro de 1988 que a equipe da EL-DE House se mudou para as instalações (escritórios no térreo, uma pequena biblioteca e uma sala para trabalho em grupo no primeiro andar).
Mesmo assim, foi só depois de 9 anos – junho de 1997 – que a nova exposição permanente foi aberta.
Ou seja, é um memorial novo que demorou anos para conseguir se desenvolver da forma que o conhecemos hoje. Carrega a história não só do que foi feito lá, mas das pessoas que lutaram para mostrar isso para o mundo.
Como funciona a visita?
Não é preciso reservar o ingresso com antecedência, você pode adquirir no dia da visita. Também é possível que visitantes individuais visitem a exposição com guias de áudio (2€ cada), que estão disponíveis em seis idiomas (inglês, francês, espanhol, polonês, russo e alemão).
Eu recomendo que você compre um áudio guia porque todas as explicações do memorial estão em alemão. Pena não haver áudio em português, aí você pode escolher em inglês ou espanhol.
Primeiro andar EL-DE Haus
No primeiro andar do edifício é possível verificar toda linha cronológica de como o nacional-socialismo se instalou em Colônia. As campanhas empregadas, o jogo mental e a forma como o ódio foi crescendo nas pessoas.
Você pode então descer até o porão, pelo mesmo caminho que os prisioneiros passaram. As barras, fechaduras e portas de cela na parte inferior são originais.
Ainda é possível ver os registros que os prisioneiros deixaram pelas celas. O local é todo apertado, sombrio e te coloca em um modo reflexivo sobre a história, o mundo, a capacidade do ser humano em atingir seus polos incríveis e abomináveis em curto espaço de tempo.
Descendo mais um pouco você chega no bunker que foi utilizado para torturar os prisioneiros que lá passaram. Este foi o pior lugar que eu estive na minha vida. No inicio não consegui entrar, paralisei. Confesso que precisei tomar um ar na parte externa para conseguir retomar a visita. O local é gelado e se a morte materializada possui algum cheiro, é o cheiro que sentimos depois de passar essa porta.
O acervo do memorial é realmente rico. Você encontra muita informação fora do que normalmente já sabemos e é justamente por isso que vale a visita. Não é fácil passar por salas onde as paredes falam, mas eu julgo que isto é o mínimo que podemos fazer: aprender.
Inclusive, várias partes do memorial são destinadas para as visitas escolares.
Crianças que vão até lá para saberem o que já rolou nesse mundo e não repetirem a história.”

Minhas considerações:
Eu me interesso por tudo o que se refere a Segunda Guerra Mundial, e este foi o primeiro museu que eu visitei sobre o assunto.
Me emocionei muito em algumas partes eu chorei, como os escritos nas paredes e algumas mensagens. É realmente deprimente e triste você ver o que aconteceu naquela época. Leva a uma reflexão para que nunca mais aconteça.

I haven't been here for a few days, so today I'll talk about a museum in Cologne, Germany.
El-de Haus: what it was like to visit the former Gestapo headquarters in Cologne, Germany.
“EL-DE House, now officially the NS Documentation Center of the City of Cologne, is the former headquarters of the Gestapo and today a museum that documents the Third Reich. The building was initially intended for the commercial premises of the jeweler Leopold Dahmen. In 1934, the Nazis rented the building and transformed it into the headquarters of the secret police, the Gestapo.
It is intriguing to think that the building remained standing after the war, while most of the other buildings around it had been destroyed. Cologne was one of the most heavily bombed cities in Germany during World War II; records indicate that 35,268 tons of bombs were used in the region.
After the bombings, the building's basements, which were used as prison cells and torture chambers for forced laborers and political enemies, ended up becoming a storage facility for archives.
Soon after the war, a carefree approach was adopted towards the house and its past. It was only in the early 1980s that the EL-DE House became a historically protected monument.
In In 1985, a group of citizens took the initiative to found an NS documentation center and organized demonstrations in relation to this place. It was only on September 19, 1988, that the EL-DE House team moved into the facilities (offices on the ground floor, a small library and a room for group work on the first floor).
Even so, it was only after 9 years – June 1997 – that the new permanent exhibition was opened.
In other words, it is a new memorial that took years to develop into the way we know it today. It carries the history not only of what was done there, but of the people who fought to show it to the world.
How does the visit work?
It is not necessary to book a ticket in advance; you can purchase one on the day of your visit. Individual visitors can also visit the exhibition with audio guides (€2 each), which are available in six languages (English, French, Spanish, Polish, Russian, and German).
I recommend that you buy an audio guide because all the explanations of the memorial are in audio. German. It's a shame there's no audio in Portuguese; you can choose English or Spanish instead.
First floor EL-DE Haus
On the first floor of the building, it's possible to see the entire timeline of how National Socialism took hold in Cologne. The campaigns employed, the mind games, and how hatred grew among the people.
You can then descend to the basement, following the same path the prisoners took. The bars, locks, and cell doors at the bottom are original.
It's still possible to see the records that the prisoners left in the cells. The place is cramped, dark, and puts you in a reflective mode about history, the world, and the capacity of human beings to reach their incredible and abominable extremes in a short space of time.

Going down a little further, you reach the bunker that was used to torture the prisoners who passed through there. This was the worst place I've ever been in my life. At first, I couldn't go in; I froze. I confess I needed Take a breath of fresh air outside to be able to resume the visit. The place is cold, and if materialized death has any smell, it's the smell we feel after passing through that door.
The memorial's collection is truly rich. You find a lot of information beyond what we normally already know, and that's precisely why it's worth the visit. It's not easy to walk through rooms where the walls speak, but I believe this is the least we can do: learn.
In fact, several parts of the memorial are intended for school visits.
Children go there to learn what has already happened in this world and not repeat history.”

My thoughts:
I am interested in everything related to World War II, and this was the first museum I visited on the subject.
I was very moved; in some parts I cried, like the writings on the walls and some messages. It's truly depressing and sad to see what happened back then. It leads to reflection so that it never happens again.
